Africa’s largest solar pump in Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve

Solar pump system in Taroudant.

TaroudantAE Photonics Maroc has set up Africa’s largest solar pump to date in the southern Moroccan town of Taroudant, 170 km from Agadir. Pump PS21k made by Lorentz is run by 84 LDK 220 W/poly modules, and transports 308 m³ of water from a 75-m-deep well every day. With the help of a drip irrigation system, it is used to irrigate a 10-ha olive plantation.
AE Photonics Maroc has already been contracted to set up the next facility for a solar pump of this size. Pumps set up by AE Photonics Maroc now irrigate more than 1,000 hectares of agricultural land in Morocco, which is used for purposes such as growing vegetables, olives and oranges for the African and European markets.
