Lima, May 20 (EFE) .- Peru today inaugurated the 11th International Symposium on Gold and Silver, highlighting its position at the forefront in the production of minerals in the region and with the announcement of a portfolio of projects for 60,000 million dollars .
The meeting, which will bring together exhibitors, businessmen and officials linked to the sector until Thursday, was inaugurated by Peru's energy and mines minister, Eleodoro Mayorga, who said that his country has "become a privileged destination for mining investment ".
"Peru is one of the few countries that can boast of its past and its present mining," Mayorga remarked before saying that, at the regional level, it is the first producer "in almost all the metals", with the exception of copper, in which Occupies the second place, behind Chile.
