Climate change alters marine biodiversity in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands

The increase of the surface temperature of the water is altering the marine biodiversity in the Canary Islands. Tropical species like the whale shark appear, multiply other traditional species such as the old one, and others, such as the sardine law, are at risk of disappearing. The arrival of tropical species also occurs in the Mediterranean: about 40 new exotic species have been recorded in waters of the Balearic Islands in recent years, a number that has tripled in three decades.
