La UNESCO, has launched the initiative RENFORUS: "A Future of Renewable Energy for UNESCO Sites"; This initiative marks the way for a clean energy future in Biosphere Reserves and World Heritage Sites as exemplary places where the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All slogan is put into practice.
In addressing climate change mitigation, RENFORUS also aims to demonstrate the benefit of using local renewable energy sources and their potential impacts on the environment and the ecological preservation of UNESCO sites
It will also serve as a component for capacity-building, facilitating access to information and exchange of experiences between local and regional energy actors on UNESCO sites.
