The 23 of January was inaugurated in The Mirador de La Peña, In El Hierro, the ClimaDat climate observation and climate change station. This is one of eight points chosen to be part of the climate measurement and climate change network.
Climate awareness is the first step in making decisions and conserving wealth. For this reason, the ClimaDat measurement network will be complemented by information and educational activities, an important part of which will be the information points that will be established in the natural spaces chosen by the project scientists. In the case of El Hierro, an information point will roam the island with the aim of involving the population in the fight against climate change and in the protection of the climate and unique ecosystems, in accordance with the spirit of Biosphere Reserve and Current geopark project of El Hierro.
The data collected at the eight sampling stations will be freely accessible to society as a whole and to the scientific community, and will be open to collaboration with other international research groups.
