These important projects have been fraught with conflict and litigation, in large part because the sites selected for development are located near protected areas that could be compromised by such developments. These conflicts are unnecessary. Developing renewable energy resources, such as solar energy, can be accomplished while protecting our shared investments in our southwestern national parks and protected landscapes.
